Shorter and Longer Ways
11m x 7m x 1.7m
Plastic, Acrylic Tube, Wire
Tubes suspended above a large pile of logs, densely overgrown with moss, fungus and leaves. Creatures live there.
Each tube forms a shortcut between 2 points - a quick, easy path.
The alternative path is extraordinarily long, filled with challenge, darkness and potential danger.
Tiny figures stand near the entrance, looking in, undecided.
Installation in Contemporary Art Museum With Nature exhibition, Saitama, Japan.
23rd September - 10th October, 2011
In the exhibition, outdoor sculptural installations occupied positions within the natural landscape - hanging from trees, nestled in a bamboo grove, emerging from the ground and so on.
